Hortaz, Ameriketara emigratutakokomunitateek erlijioa erabili zuten, nolabait, taldearen nortasuna adierazteko,eta guk erabilera hori aztertu nahi izan dugu lan honen bitartez. The presence of Basques in Cuba, just like that of Galicians, Catalans, CanaryIslanders and Asturians, began to increase in the second half of the 19th century.These groups of people soon began to organise themselves into societies, and almostsimultaneously took used as their icons religious references of patron saintsand/or Marian advocations from their places of origin. The purpose of this articleis to analyse the use of religion by immigrant communities in America as a way ofexternalising the identity of the group. ER -
